The League of Crafty Ass Bastards

The Despoiler of the Galaxy Gets Despoiled

In keeping with our tradition of allowing the birthday boy to choose his faction, Kent went with the Hutts.  General LaBan picked up the yellow hoard and I was left with the e-vile Empire. Setup was typical, leaving the Hutts with 4 resource planets.

The one oddity was the Death Star on Omwat.  With star troopers on Sullust, Sluis Van, and Gamorr, it seemed like a large garrison on Omwat would be safe from Rebel attacks and eventually would be the springboard for overrunning the sector.

The Rebels concentrated their initial troops elsewhere, abandoning their single garrison on Arbra to its fate.  Meanwhile, the Hutts doubled down and substantially fortified their Wild Space resource planet, Elom.

The initial assaults by Rebels and Hutts were not seriously damaging but straight away attacks went wrong for the Empire.  The Hutts on Dagobah rolled 4 sixes in a row to prevent a takeover of the El'Rood Sector.  Attacks on Rebel bases generated fairly high casualties.  Alas, a turn later the Rebels saved themselves by taking away the first blowie-uppie card targeting the El'Rood Sector and Ison Corridor.  That allowed the gateway to the Wild Space at Sluis Van to remain intact.

By turn 3 the Empire had assembled a very large force on Omwat with the idea of overrunning the sector.  The Hutts instead struck first with a dice roll of 15 plus card bonuses that took out the Death Star.*  The follow-on invasion with the continuing bonuses destroyed the Imperial garrison in short order.  However, his critical error was attacking Sluis Van.

With the Empire out of the picture as a threat, the Rebels turned on the Hutts and swept them from the Mid Rim.  The storm troopers were able to neutralize the Ison Corridor that General LaBan had been holding for several turns, but that was about all.

Kent the Hutt attempted to claw his way back to power, only to be thwarted by large numbers of Rebels.  Helped by a bomber and a faction card straight, the Rebels finally broke through Gamorr, and captured the starbase at Excarga.  That was the Emperor's base, in place since turn 3.

Victory Rebels.

* This has been only the second time that the Hutts have destroyed the Death Star.
